Book Reviews

2fish: a poetry book – Jhene Aiko

Hey loves! Happy New Year!! (yes I am almost a month late)

I haven’t been able to post much (yes we hear this a lot) because I now have two jobs plus school so I am kinda busy, right now I am literally sitting in my PJ’s thinking “I need to do this book review” so here I am doing this book review.

You guys know my love for poetry, so when I saw that Jhene Aiko was coming out with a poetry book I was like “I have to be IN that ASAP”

I got the book, and yes I do have an opinion on it.  As much as I love Jhene and her music, I did not like this book.  Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t all bad, but overall would I buy this book again? No.  Would I recommend it to a friend? No.

Why didn’t I like it?  Well it just wasn’t something that I could relate to, although I loved the little stories that she had placed in the book, the poems didn’t really make me feel anything.  We all know that when I read poetry I want to be able to relate, I want to be able to FEEL something as I am reading these words.  I get that everyone has a different story to tell, but one way or another, we can all relate to each other at the end of the day.  As I said, I love Jhene, but that book just didn’t do it for me and there is nothing else that I could really say about it.
