salt. – nayyirah waheed

Hey babies, another poetry book review here for you.

I don’t know what it is but lately I have really been getting into poetry books, plus when I find them on amazon for a really good price I just snatch them up!!

I just finished salt. and I don’t know how I feel about it.  This book didn’t make me really feel anything, I mean some of the poems were very relatable and had me like “DAM” but it didn’t do anything that was considered over the top for me.

I think that the people who would like this book are immigrant’s either coming from the caribbean or even africa as things along those lines were mentioned.  I know that the author is a women of colour and so I am, so that was one thing that I could definitely relate to when reading a lot of these poems.

I understood where she was coming from with certain things, I felt certain feelings that she was writing about, I had the same thoughts that she had when she was writing some of these poems, so from that standpoint I could really relate to her.

I think I got this book for like $6 on Amazon which I think is a steal so if you see it, I would definitely pick it up.

It wasn’t one of my all time favourites, but it was better then some.

Do you guys like these reviews on poetry books? Let me know!
