Book Reviews

the sun and her flowers – rupi kaur

A few months ago I posted my opinion on milk and honey which was rupi kaurs first poetry book and I was absolutely in love with it..

I loved in so much that when she released that she was coming out with another book, I jumped at the chance and pre-ordered it.

On the back of the book it says,

this is the recipe of life

said my mother

as she held me in her arms as i wept

think of those flowers you plant

in the garden each year

they will teach you

that people too

must wilt

fall

root

rise

in order to bloom

I literally just finished reading it today & I have an opinion on it.

First thing I liked about this book was that it was 248 pages which I am pretty sure is more then milk and honey.

Second, I found that the poems were a bit longer as well which gave me more to read.

But to be honest, I liked the vibe of milk and honey more.  I don’t know what it is about milk and honey but that book is my first love when it comes to poetry books.

I will say that the sun and her flowers is an amazing read but I do prefer one over the other, but again that’s just me.

I have been posting A LOT of my favourite poems on my snapchat but I don’t want to ruin the book for you guys here, all I can really say is it is an amazing read and I recommend it, but of course you need to read milk and honey first.

Side note: I bought 4 poetry books so I definitely will be reviewing all of them once I read them.
